Jumpers

Brooklynn is on a Performance Jump Rope Team.  The team is through her school and is coached by her PE teacher. Last year she was on the developmental team and would practice a few times a week.  This year it was ramped up a whole bunch and she has been practicing 3 times a week after school and most mornings she is at school early enough to practice before class starts too.  She has spent endless hours perfecting their routines and her hard work has more than paid off.

I have been impressed with her dedication.  Having this opportunity has taught her how to practice and really work hard, if you want to master skills and be really good at what you do.  She has learned to really LOVE something she does and she has been excited about this all year!  Not once have I heard her say, “I don’t want to go to practice.”

Starting in August, with school she practiced and practiced. The team consists of 3rd, 4th and 5th grade kids.  In November they performed for the first time in the city parade. In December her performances ramped up (They perform at half-time of the basketball games).  By the end of the season she performed at 7 or 8 high schools and at many of the Colleges/Universities in the area, including, TWU, TCU, SMU, UTA, North Texas and Baylor and at a Texas Legends basketball game all in a 30 day span. Steve and I took turns taking her to performances and the boys to basketball.  Nana and Grandma even came to see her perform one weekend which was so much fun!
I have seen their routine so many times and I NEVER get sick of watching her.   I am endlessly impressed with her ability to perform in front of huge crowds – I could have never done that at her age.  She amazes me!
