Kidney Stones

Well, I have often remembered the stories of my Dad, Marilee, Aunt Lori and Grandpa Scadlock and their kidney stone attacks. Now, I have one of my own. Yep, lucky me last night about 1am, I started with some brutal pain that taunted me and subsided just long enough for me to think I was going to be okay. Then, it came back with a vengence. By around 4:30 I couldn't take the pain any more and got Steve up. Having no family near by, but knowing that on Monday mornings Kendra is up at 4:30 to begin her Monday morning cleaning, Steve called her to once again come to our rescue. I know she and JD are wondering how they ever became friends with the most unlucky ER bound people in the Great State of California.

Anyway, I puked my guts out in the bushes while we waited for Kendra to get here and then we were off to the ER. On the way I wished that I would pass out or something so I did not have to feel any more pain, but soon after we arrived the pain began to subside. This time in the ER we didn't have to wait for 6 hours, thankfully, and we were in and out in about 2 hours.

They did a urine test and found enough blood in the sample to be pretty certain that it was in fact a kidney stone, but they did an abdominal CT just to be certain. And, yes it was, but by the time I had the scan it had passed to my bladder! I am so grateful that it is over. The bad news is that I have 3 or 4 more waiting in the wings. Hopefully I can get that taken care of before they try to come out!

So, those are the events of our household this fine Monday morning. I have to say Thanks Again to Kendra and JD for coming to the rescue. What would we do without you. I'm sure everytime the phone rings they panic and wonder what we will need next. HaHa. WE LOVE YOU GUYS! Honestly we really didn't go the hospital/Doctor so much until we moved here!

Feliz Nadida

We have had a very busy couple of weeks here in Cali. Things just don't seem to ever slow down. Where should I start.

Tyler the other day while eating a snack reported that his tooth hurt when he would bite. We proceeded to test for a loose tooth and sure enough he has a wiggly front bottom one. I keep telling him to wiggle it and it will come out, but I think he is a little concerned about it hurting. He is keeping way busy at school. They have been practicing songs for the "Holiday" program at school. No, it is not a Christmas program because that could be offensive to some people. Anyway, he has been telling us that he so nervous. This is the kid who loves to give talks in primary and say prayers and loves the primary program. He is nervous to sing some Christmas songs at school for a whole bunch of parents. Who knows what he is thinking. Anyway, yesterday in an attempt to help him out I tried to get him to teach me some of the songs they will perform. He was surprised to find out I knew some of them too. He was very resistant to teach me so I told him that in order to get lunch he would have to sing me one of the songs. He had a fit and didn't think it was funny at all. Brooklynn however thought it was a great idea and proceeded to sing me "Feliz Nadida" It was very cute. She loves to sing.

Brooklynn is busy with pre-school and totally loves it. She is so social and is insisting on friends coming over all the time. She cannot wait for Christmas and is looking forward to go shopping for a gift for her brothers. She has also been inventing funny words. We asked her the other day what the word was and she said "a talking one," then we asked where she learned that word and she replied, "my mouth." She is nutty, It is pretty cute.

Joshua is turning into a monster. Eating is his latest thing and if you have food and won't share he let's you know that is absolutely not gonna fly with him. He is into everything and walking around everything. He thinks he is so clever. His hair is showing signs of curls (I think I may be just wishing for it), but I don't think that I can wait it out and let it grow. We'll see. Steve suggested a mullet. He also, by the end of the day, will have his four front teeth. He has figured out he can bite with them and is always trying to chomp down on something. I'm sure at Christmas Jakey or Emmaus will get bit by him.

Steve and I are keeping super busy. He is trying to finish the year strong. I've hosted my cooking group and I'm in charge of a few combined mutual activities this month. Although hopefully we are cancelling one of them. I finished my Christmas cards and a Christmas project/gift and Got my shopping done, except for Steve. I am also hosting a Heritage Makers party next week. It should be fun!

That should get you up to date. Sorry no pictures.
