Summer.......Post 2

After a night in Idaho, we packed up and headed North - to the Great White North!  It was Cabin Time!  Not only were Steve and I excited to go, but the kids were really looking forward to it.  The Cabin is one of my most favorite places in the world.  It is so beautiful there and it just feels comfortable.  It is a wonderful place and it means we get to be with family, which is also why I love it!  We have so many memories there and we ALL love it!

We left on Saturday and drove about half way.  The drive was good and the kids loved switching cars to be with cousins.  Josh had Nana and Auntie MeeMee in complete stitches with his antics in their car.  He introduced them to his duck call and a few other things as well.

Sunday was spent driving the rest of the way. When we finally arrived, we hit the ground running.  We headed up to Swansea Mountain.  The kids loaded up in that back of the Truck and the rest of us loaded into Marilee's Car and we drove up the switch back 'road' (I wouldn't really call in a road, more like a wide trail with shear drop offs that made me nervous) to the trail head that would take us up to the peak.  As we unloaded, Josh looked at me and asked, "When do we put on the bear spray?"  I love that boy to pieces, he had heard us talking about bear spray and figured it was like bug spray and you put it on yourself to keep the bears away.  Steve and I go a kick out of it!  Anyway, we headed up the trail, which was steep in parts and narrow, but not too far.  It was a perfect hike after 2 long days in the car and the kids loved it.

The view from the top was of the entire Valley and it was incredible.  We took pictures and enjoyed the view and then some Para-gliders showed up and started unpacking their gear to take off from the peak.  Along with one of the Para-gliders came Nana, who had determined that the path was too steep and so Granddad left her on the trail to wait for us.  The crazy guy told my mom she was coming up the Mountain with him and wouldn't take No for an answer.

The evening was perfect!

Monday was beautiful and since we had thought and planned a schedule in advance that meant we were Canoeing the River!  Granddad, Steve and TJ had done it a few years before and enjoyed it, so this time with older stronger kids and more adults and Nana staying home with the 3 littles, Avery, Noah and Reece. We were off on a fun excursion.
Josh and Steve had a great time and Josh loved that he was finally BIG enough to come on this adventure!
Somewhere after this picture of Jack and Ty, poor Jackson got really sick - thanks to a Migraine and no medicine out on the river.  He ended up throwing up in the Kayak and being the kind and loving Aunt that I am and after an attempt at cleaning out the puke, I took his place so he could move to the guides BIG Canoe and sleep.  Tyler and I powered down the river and we all ended up having a great time. It was a perfectly beautiful day.

A trip to the Cabin wouldn't be complete without some boating time.  Although due to a dead battery it took us a little longer than we wanted to get out on the water, the kids loved Tubing, Surfing and trying their hand at Water Skiing.  I was most impressed with Brook and how daring she was on the tube - she had a wicked wipe out, she was laying on her tummy, we hit a huge bump and her feet came all the way over her head backwards.  I was so worried about her when we pulled the boat around and she was crying.  She was a little sore, but still loved it.

On the first day we went out on the boat, we took the little kids out first to tube and were going to come back for the crazy teenagers.  When we finally came back the first thing I heard was that "Uncle Steve took Tyler to the Emergency Room."  I will not lie when I say I was in a bit of a panic.  I guess after Steve and Ty helped push the boat off, Ty turned in the water and sort of dove under.  He caught his foot on something and came up out of the water and according to Uncle TJ said, "Oh, there it goes."  Steve grabbed him and pulled him out of the water and the top of his foot was really bleeding and spurting blood.  They tried to find what had sliced it so badly, but never did figure it out.  Steve's boy scout kicked in and they got the bleeding stopped and headed into town to the ER.  Tyler ended up with stitches and sadly was not able to get in the water or go tubing.  He was so disappointed, but we were grateful his injury was not worse.  Another few millimeters and he would have sliced through the main artery in his foot!
