I am Grateful for HAWAII

The morning after Tyler’s Team won the super bowl, we finished packing and headed for the airport.  For months we had been planning for our Thanksgiving excursion to Hawaii!  The kids were Extremely excited and could hardly wait.  We had cousins waiting in Hawaii for us already and we could not believe the day was finally here.  I was completely excited, but a little nervous about an 8 1/2 hour plane ride with a 3 year old.  We charged computers, iPods and brought lots of coloring and other activities and TONS of snacks.  The kids all did so great on the plane, the last hour or so was a little bit of torture for us all, but I can’t complain too much!

Once we arrived we headed over to get our rental car.  It turned into a bit of an ordeal and a wait – they didn’t have a car for us.  Thanks to my wonderful husband who is patient and kind and diplomatic  in such situations, we ended up with a Free Upgrade and a Free tank of gas.  (I would just like to say, if I had handled it things would not have turned out the same) I can’t complain about driving a brand new Escalade for a week.

Our first full day, the men went Golfing and the Women went to the pool and the beach and the pool and back to the beach with the kids.  Noah had never seen or been to a beach that he remembered and although a little cautious at first he LOVED it.

My kids were in Heaven – they love the beach and the pool and add cousins to the mix and it could not have been better! I would say the same for me too!

Day Two Brought More Fun and swimming, the weather was not exactly what we had hoped for, but the kids still loved playing in the water and hanging out together.  When the men arrived back from Golf, we all split up to go our separate ways.  Steve and I took our kids to Pearl Harbor,  TJ came along with Jack, Brady and Reece and we had Amber and Marin with us too!  Julie, Natalie, Nana and Marilee went to swim with the Dolphins and Granddad and Adam took Adam’s crew to surf at Waikiki.  We all met up at Waikiki for some Hula Dog (Puka Dog) after we were done.
Pearl Harbor was great, we just barely made the last tour of the day, thanks to our last minute/spur of the moment plans to go.  The kids had a good time and it was wonderful for the to learn about the history and sacrifice of so many.
